In Second Chance for Life, Wally not only shares his story but explains how we can each overcome the worst of circumstances. Too many people give up, refuse to see the possibilities and succumb to doubt and fear. While Hogland admits this is easy to do, he also presents a different path – one where we collaborate with God and honor Him by changing the way that we think.

“Cancer was my moment of greatest weakness, and from it came the potential for my greatest strength . . . I was too tired to depend on my own strength, which was all but depleted. I had no solutions, no control, and no energy,” says the author. “I could no longer take for granted one second of my life. I finally realized, in despair of my life, that my mind could be my cure or my curse,” he explains.

As a Christian, Hogland knew about healing, but he never thought about praying for himself. He never thought about changing his negative thinking to include hope. And it was hope that gave him a second chance for life.
